Unexpected Audience Member On Question Time

Here's a still from Stanley Kubrick's somewhat overrated satire Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb:

And here's a shot of the audience of last night's Question Time on BBC1:

So that was weird.

  1. Ha ha ha. Brilliant. Don't remember seeing him at all. Is that a slightly aging 'Needle Nose' Ned Ryerson asking the question by the way?

  2. Question Time? Yes, Question Your Time. Too much of it spent in front of the TV and not enough time having multiple screams in the multiple screens in your local cinema, or so it seems from your strange love of domestic telly. You are trying to Sellers a film story by drawing attention to a medium the is a parasite itching the back of film and contributing little in the process. Most of what TV spews out is about as useful to humanity as BP in the Gulf of Mexico.

  4. What was it you did for a living, Tony? Remind us?

  5. I made my living as a TV cameraman. I had a great life with lots of laughs making TV. I've seen John Wayne, Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks Jnr. Telly Savalas and many other stars in the flesh. I've looped the loop in a stunt plane, been in an airship, hot air balloon and helicopter over London and had many other excitements shooting video for broadcast TV. All good fun.

Nobody said I had to watch it.

Coronation Street is one show I do see. It is well acted, scripted, directed and shot and I like the humour. If ITV can't get their flagship show right then they are sunk.

  7. Well, yes, he does look like Dr. Strangelove. What is even more spooky is that the guy in the foreground looks like Lyndon B Johnson President of the USA with the Cold War finger on the nuclear button after Kennedy's assasination.

  8. Tony, are you related to Lord Gnome in Private Eye?

And Mr Suit, are really telling us that while watching Dimbles you spotted that man in the audience and you immediately thought of Dr Strangelove? Scary.

  9. Surely you remember the Private Eye banquet at which my uncle Lord Gnome presented me with the Bore Of The Year Award.

  10. Yep, that was the exact sequence of events which led to this post. It is a bit worrying isn't it?
