Porky In Wackyland (1938)
I know it's Monday morning but I watched this very late on Friday night and it nearly took my head off. When I tell you that a talking pig in a jumpsuit flying an aeroplane is the least mentile bit, you should know to expect an extremely Looney Tune.
No Ukuleles in Wackyland.
ReplyDeleteIs that Officer Gotcha from Jamie And The Magic Torch at 2:49?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what this means, but here is something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKedQDSvfq8
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks like Officer Gotcha. I call shenanigans!
ReplyDeleteThe first music in Wackyland is from Rossini's William Tell Overture, the quiet bit before everything goes mad in the bit that was used for The Lone Ranger. Opera is drama, so it turns up time and again in films. Even in Loonry Tunes.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Douglas Adams got the two headed Zaphod Beeblebrox idea in Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy from seeing the three headed character in the cartoon?
Tim's link to the Salvador Dali version demonstrated that there are precious few ideas in cinema sound and vision that were not thought of in the early years. While Loony Tunes employed every graphic trick so Busby Berkley was originating all the camera shots you ever see on MTV and the epic movie Birth of a Nation by D. W. Griffith was as spectacular as anything since.
